DARKSIDERS: GENESIS gives players their first look at the world of DARKSIDERS before the events of the original game, as well as introduces the horseman STRIFE.

From the dawn of creation, THE COUNCIL has maintained the Balance across existence. Carrying out their orders are THE HORSEMEN, Nephilim (powerful beings spawned from the unnatural union of angels and demons) who have pledged themselves to the Council and been granted immense power. However, this power came at a tragic cost: the Horsemen were ordered to use their newfound strength to wipe out the rest of their kind. What followed was a bloody battle on Eden where the Horsemen, obeying the will of the Council, annihilated the Nephilim.

Still reeling from the events on Eden, WAR and STRIFE have been given a new assignment -- LUCIFER, the enigmatic and deceptive demon king, has been plotting to upset the Balance by granting power to master demons throughout Hell. War and Strife must hunt down these masters, gather information, and ultimately fight their way through a tangled, demonic conspiracy that threatens to forever upset the Balance and unravel all of creation.

DARKSIDERS: GENESIS is an action/adventure that tears its way through hordes of demons, angels, and everything in-between on its way to Hell and back with guns blazing and swords swinging. Genesis gives players their first look at the world of DARKSIDERS before the events of the original game, as well as introduces the horseman STRIFE

Meh.... Will we ever get the sequel implied by the original game's ending, lol.

I was at least hoping a Strife game would be some cool combination of the previous games and a dose of Vanquish given his weapons of choice.

So is this a Diablo style loot-'em-up, or a Lara Croft and the Guardian Of Light style isometric action puzzler, you think?

Well, why not!

I just thought Strife's voice sounded off for his character but it's hard to judge on only two lines.

So they keep making games that continue to ignore the first one I see, or at least it's ending. At leasty they're fun

wasnt that the original plan to do one big game for each horseman explaining what they did around the apocalypse and then do the final one with all four???

This is pretty much comeback of Joe Mad and the other ex-Vigil crew back to this IP as a prequel spinoff

I dont know if there was an original plan, if there was I don't recall it ever being mentioned. That would make sense, but they keep dicking around with the other horsemen so who knows if they'll ever get to that

It does look pretty fun, hopefully it's good like the Lara Croft side games. I didn't realize War is in it too so I thought meh, generic twin stick shooter at first.

Hopefully Strife gets a full game too. With said Vanquish shenanigans. Although jumping to the real sequel to the first with all 4 would be fine by me too!

yeah that playthrough looks a lot more lara croft & guardian of light with a focus on environmental puzzling and exploration, than it does diablo-style killing and looting

It was completely trope-filled as far as trailers go, but I can't stop grinning like an idiot. Happy to see War back, though admittedly I haven't played III yet.

Lowkey the sleeper hit of this year imho. Game is like a proper old school Zelda if it was divided in chapters, it has a lot of variety, you also keep unlocking stuff the further you go on and there's an Arena mode !

Also goddamn did I miss War's antics, Strife is his perfect complementary "personality", and overall the gameplay in this is pretty good ! Very much recommending it. Its a proper Darksiders game btw, not some Diablo clone
