Things will eventually reach a breaking point

They can keep increasing the prices of things as much as they like, eventually the market will refuse and they'll have no choice but to relent
I know I posted this before, but very, very, very few games can get away with an $80 price tag. GTA 6, Call of Duty and Mario Kart? Sure. Death Stranding 2? Not so much. There's simply too much entertainment in the world and most people will be content with playing Fortnite or watching TikTok.

Yeah, the solution to people playing years-old-games (non-GaaS forevergames, subscription games, and GaaS games) is NOT raising the price of the single-player games.

I'll be honest, between sony and ms, if I were to bet on which one would be the first to pull this stunt my money wouldn't be on ms.

Exactly. Good luck to the likes of Bamco charging $80 for the newest anime game

Another banger, OP, lashman!

Not sure I will be getting anything this month, hard to keep up with the first couple months of this year, let alone great titles from last year.

And yeah, echo the sentiments about gaming at large being in a rough spot. I expect PC to be relatively better off, but higher prices for big titles will likely be the norm going forward.

Xbox is dead

Couldn't sell a console at the lower price as it is

Not looking forward to Sony and other big publishers copying the price increases and those prices finding their way to Steam

I'm sure Sony will be raising their console pricing soon enough in the US due to the tariffs. I believe they already did for a lot of regions recently.

But yeah I assume most publishers were waiting for an $80 GTA 6 to pull the trigger on raising prices and Nintendo beat Take 2 to it.

Well, I am not selling my Series X despite the increase. Going to keep it for backward compatibility and movies.

First of, congratulations to Nintendo for finally fixing one of the issues of the eShop. The best selling list will now be based of revenue and not copies sold.

Some people would take advantage of this and would sell games for 90% off. They are also getting rid of gold coins as well (I can't remember what they are replacing it with.) so you will be getting a lot of games being insanely cheap to buy at times.

Sony and Microsoft know they can bump up the price of the consoles/games as much as they want with GTAVI coming soon.

They will clear out all inventory for the fall/winter. Plus a new COD and Battlefield is supposedly happening. This holiday season will pretty much be casual gaming galore and all parents will be buying this overpriced hardware along with Switch 2 for their kids.

Say what you will about PewDiePie, but seeing him blow up with his video on being super into Linux has to be making some people little nervous at Microsoft. And on that the double whammy of the EU saying they will move onto to more open source and free for all their IT needs.

I wouldn't be so sure. a $600 Series X isn't something to sniff at

Look how poorly the PS5 Pro sold

That's a big delay. I'm surprised they are even giving concrete date as It will likely be delayed even further into 2nd half of next year.

Tyler McVicker mentioned the other day Valve having another limited build of Deadlock and this just came out as legit. He also mentioned a bunch of stuff related to HL3/X including a possible summer reveal and winter release.

Anyway what I'm trying to say is Half-Life 3 confirmed.

GMG has lots of pretty good deals in their Golden Week Sale:
(I'm logged in there and get some sort of XP bonus, but I assume it's not much and they will still be good deals otherwise :P)

Stuff like
  • Valkyria Chronicles 4 Complete Edition for 9 €
  • Code Vein for 6.45 €
  • Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition for 6.88 €
  • Mary Skelter Finale for 4.68 €
  • Soul Hackers 2 for 13.50 €

And a lot more.

Probably. Announcing a specific release date over a year in advance doesn't have a great track record; the last two examples I can think of were Starfield and GTA IV many years before that
