New week, new thread! What are you playing?

Haven't played much other than Girls' Frontline 2. Going to have a busy week so I needed to finish the remaining events and stuff before the next patch which arrives on Thu. Should be able to return to Octopath next week.

Live a Live, I finished the 7 stories and unlocked the Medieval chapter, I don't really know if it was intentantional or a product of the localization but the subversion of the silent protagonist was neat.

Now I'm doing the Final chapter, which honestly is the only part of the game that actually feels like a RPG dungeon and exploration proper.

I finished FF7 Remake + Intermission. Ended up having a good time. Though I did put combat to easy partway through. Just not really my thing.

Also played through Zenless 3.1 main story. Really, really good stuff. They've really hit their stride. Looking forward to trying the new "extraction" mode next week.

I'll probably not jump into Rebirth right away. Eyeing Tunic right now.

I've been playing Crystar quite abit over the past two weeks.

It's a shame that I'll probably have to drop it.
I really appreciate what they did with a clearly very limited budget, and I like the overall aesthetics and even gameplay of it.
I even like the basic story concept of time loops with small changes trying to reach a better ending. In fact, some of my absolute favourite stories in gaming are about precisely that!
But the game just doesn't have sufficient gameplay variety to carry the way it goes about this. I really do want to know what ends up happening, but I don't think I want to know to a sufficient extent to play the same levels and fight basically the same enemies for yet another round.

The (particularly Japanese) tendency to pad out games beyond what their variety can reasonably support claims another victim.
It almost makes you cry.

Went back to Ys X Proud Nordics. The game itself isn't anywhere near bad, but I also kinda don't see the draw in this game that I had with older Ys titles, and I'm not talking Ys IX here, more like the first 3D Ys titles, like Ys VI, Ys Oath of Felghana and Ys Origin. I didn't even mind the first "Ys Party" games, as I call them, Ys Seven and Ys 8, but with the last two titles, I feel that Falcom is just losing on what makes Ys actually work. There's way to much story nonsense that gets in the way of just having fun. In Ys X it takes hours and hours and hours before you have your first proper dungeon. And now the first boss encounter, a big worm thing, feels just clumsy. Nothing that feels like challenging your skills, just an exercise in using the right tools. There's so many gimmicks with Ys X. Gotta have a skateboard thingie, and a hookshot and more and more stuff you gotta keep in your head.
I kinda wish Falcom understood the meaning of "less is more". You'd think given how their whole thing is releasing games quickly, they'd embrace minimalism, but no. Ys X feels like the game equivalent of a Turducken.

I'm playing Tunic and it's an interesting game as I had no idea about what the game is about besides being a The Legend of Zelda-like with a little cute fox, and the game is this but much more and that extra part is something that I wasn't expecting. I already beat what I guess is the end boss and I can start NG+ but I'm still missing 3 pages according the game over screen so it's time to hunt for the other secrets.. Still talking about the ending boss that fight is such bullshit as the controls aren't that great for a fight with so much going on.

Played some Coral Island as a chill counterpart to Mina the Hollower, but then it got me hooked all over again, and I didn't really play much Mina since.

Just started a new year (year 2), so trying to catch all fish/insects I missed first time around (some of the legendaries are basically impossible without rod upgrades, so getting then in the first 14 days of spring is not something that is doable year 1 anyway).
