|OT| Girls’ Frontline 2: Exilium | Florence (Oct 16th)

I finished re-reading Ch8.3. My initial first impression of the event back then was pretty negative, because I found that the narrative was chaotic and I was disappointed that Daiyan was not the focus of the story. The newly added voiceover did not improve the structure but it vastly enhanced the reading experience. The story takes place after the Colphne moment at the end of Ch8, so she is no longer that fake cuteness blue thing but a lovely character who is truly endearing. Her VA performance in 8.3 is once again fantastic - how she speaks really convey her worriedness and hastiness due to missing Helena during the whole chaos. Story-wise, since I have just completed Reverse Collapse, I immediately noticed that the whole Helena and Melanie shenanigans seems to be connected to the events in RC. If the RC enemies start appearing in GFL2... let's just say we are going to need more than T-dolls.:cold-sweat:
 
Confirmed to be Lewis (who appeared in both GFL1 and PNC).

Ehhhh, on one hand, a new MG! On the other hand, I am so sorry PNC fans. Not a great pick for collab imo.
 
Legitimally disappointed it's just a gf1 doll, even if her kit is based on her NC appearance
Might as well made Florence the PNC collab doll at this point, at least she was in PNC since launch and her PNC kit being a healer with a "Charm Enemy" skill is much more interesting than another useless summon
I get that PNC is basically the black sheep of the GFVerse at this point after 5 years of mistakes and it's basically soft-eosed with no new content in 2 years but it features so many good originals with interesting gimmicks that could have been translated perfectly in the Exilium gameplay. Like Hubble (manipulates enemy positioning) and her alternate version (eats allied summons to become more powerful), Nascita (blade unit that can teleport, super sentai themed), Angela (accelerates allied skill cooldown while delaying enemy ones), or Croque (shield unit that taunts and can summon a giant mech with her ultimate), or Clotho (saves a dying unit and resurrects them 1 turn later if they don't take extra damage that turn)
Like, PNC has so much you can take and they add fucking Lewis?

They said the main characters of PNC will appear in the story. Not sure how the story of PNC works, but hopefully this is paving way for more PNC collab events so the dolls you mentioned can become playable in the future.

Finished both Belka and Andoris' stories
They're both prequels about their time at 404 (and in Andoris case how she got into 404). Cute stories but they're basically filler. I liked Andoris' more but ultimately I prefer when the plot progresses, even if just a little

Fun fact, Jiangyu is currently the first doll to be completely reworked. She was originally a Sentinel when released on CN and was, most likely, one of the contenders for worst unit in the entire game (her skills gave her an advantage in PVP. Yes, she was a PVP focused doll...). Now she is a support and is much more useful in content that actually matters

Finished Belka and Andoris story. Belka story wasn't bad but it can be better. Would love to know more about the bullet casing, unless it was explained in GFL1 or affinity story. On the other hand, Andoris story was pretty enjoyable. I love that they incorporated 404's origins into this story. Also, ragebaiter vs ragebaited never gets old. :LOL:

Finished Jiangyu's event. There is really not much to say because uh... there are only 3 story nodes and the only battle node with a story is the last, and even the few story bits are very short. Nothing happens and the event has nothing to do with anything. I don't even know why they just slapped it with the Andoris and Belka ones. I guess they had no idea how to rewrite it to make it have sense with the previously rewritten events but they didn't even try, really
Oh well, one more step closer to Leva, Florence and Lind

Finished Jiangyu's story and it feels underwhelming enough to make me create this post. I don't mind iyashikei bits, but it was so poorly executed that it doesn't get an emotional reaction out of me.

Mica better deliver for the anniversary, that's all I'm going to say.

Jiangyu story was so bad that it pushed me to go onto bilibili and watch the first story node of the next major event.

Let's just say, that single node is better than Jiangyu's entire event. Not a high bar, but I totally see its potential.

I look forward to reading the whole thing in the game soon.

Finished Florence event. A nice creepy event perfect for Halloween. This is the first event in a while to feature exclusively the main event Doll with the commander so Florence gets to fully shine. Whoever wrote her dialogues was absolutely having a giggle through the entire plot. The plot "continues" from Nikketa's event in showing a bit more of what Mangi Security does and just like Nikketa's features a fucked up/high on drug human as the main "villain". The first half and the mystery in it is the highlight, while the second half felt a bit rushed in how quickly the story moved to its conclusion (even the last node just ends in a "well everything is solved and it's not my problem anyway" note). What happened to Florence reminds me of the rewrite program from Springfield'/Peri's event and I enjoyed how she kept trying to make the commander realize the truth of the amusement park (even if the "twist" the commander had the super secret special codeword that let her "cure" him so he can unmask the true villain behind the wonderland is an obvious shikikan-ex machina I don't know which between this or Florence simply shrugging off her neural cloud deletition because the commander was there in the ending is worse). Oh and obviously another facepalm for the ending everyone that dies is actually perfectly fine and they just allucinated being torn to pieces by the clown ELIDs. Yeah the ending really feels rushed, and the fact every npc is female smells like another consequence of Raymond's existence, but I still enjoyed
btw the hidden supply is on 1-9

GFL2 future lineup speculation from reddit, based on a recently released sample pic and some new skins from GFL1.

Need LWMMG!!!
 
A pretty good list of dolls honestly. A mix of older popular dolls (that got into Neural Cloud too) like Lam (LWMMG) and Souchun (Type 64), one of the later important story dolls like Amaris (Scar H, and Eclipses and Saros was a highlight for me so I'm all for her return), a random 2* getting a second chance, another oldie like NTW, and Liu which was a popular doll. But seriously Berlinetta (Star) must be the doll with the longest "teaser time" since she appeared in an old trailer and yet still has 0 story appearances (even SOP appears in Robella's event). Also having more teasers with so many dolls still missing will never not be weird (hello M200? Rest of 404 B side?)

CN just added Vector's event to the past event tab. I speculate that Team B is going to become playable soon because they also added Dush's event right before Helen's patch. 🙏

I think we will start to see if this tease will materialize as soon as Lunar New Year. Type 64 seems to be a good fit for the next Chinese representation.

If we're talking about hints from current/upcoming CN events
The most recently released doll in CN, Phaetusa, is confirmed to be a Sangvis Ferri model, and her story references other SF dolls, and she even has a SF like codename (Scavenger)
And she is also related to Glass Island's Creepy Doll which makes me wonder if that entire subplot was always supposed to eventually link to SF

I like her appearance a lot. Her skin is one of the best skins so far, imo. I might buy it when she comes to global. Doll Community is my favorite group in the game right now so a SF doll is icing on the cake.

I will also sit in the front row if we can see Dreamer bullying Destroyer again in GFL2.
