nope, it's just a file, if you do it this way - you'll have to sync it before opening obsidian (as opposed to everything being synced realtime when you have the obsidian sync set up)

So the gating and closing down of the internet is obvious at this point and even federated services wont be safe from that, just to access them one has to check ID at some point in the chain. So what does one do at that point? Start printing pamphlets in the basement?

For example France is considering a blanket ban for social media for people under 15, how will they even enforce that? And what happens to those who do not encore that, like the fediverse? So with everything going on EU level wanting mandatory ID check online, so yeah I know its a stretch on my part but can see that parts of the internet will only be usable once you ID verified

I hope so, but part of that was that phones need to only have apps from "official" stores which would be ID verified, if one has custom os and apps it could be that they are blocked on ISP level depending how they form the laws. Sure this is crazy conspiracy theory territory lol but what they want is to have clear data for tracking, considering palentir is getting contracts all over the place.

Im too interested in both tech and internet to fully disconnect, I would probably get more into odd ways to do online stuff. And probably just show my ID for normal stuff when needed. Hell Valve already has my ID and tax info so its not like I havent been doing stuff like that already.
Honestly I'm regressing. Tech is supposed to make stuff easier and better, not worse and more complicated.
If it comes the time where I have to submit IDs just to talk to my friends and play videogames, I'll do the bare minimum amount of tech necessary to exist and pick up woodworking or something.
