We’re also featuring original stories that will be told for the very first time, through unique sub-quests and dialogue. And some settings have even been newly created by the author Akira Toriyama.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will retell the most important events within the legendary manga/anime’s lore. The main story sagas revealed for the game are the Saiyan Saga, Frieza Saga, Cell Saga, and Buu Saga. the classic narrator for the anime can be heard reading the episode title at the start of each chapter.

The game’s combat system is reminiscent of the mechanics seen in the Dragon Ball Xenoverse series. Each playable character will have access to basic melee combos, Ki charging/blasts, and shoulder button assisted special moves. For example, Goku’s first set of unique moves are the “Kamehameha,” “Scissors Paper Rock: Rock,” “Body Blow” and “Meteor Smash” attacks. And as expected, you’ll be able to tap into each playable character’s heightened abilities via powerful transformations.

The big difference here is that the fighting system isn’t being balanced with PVP in mind. It’s PVE all the way, which allows CyberConnect2 to tip the scales in the opponent’s favor from time to time, and have them utilize special moves that break the typical rules of combat.

Much larger scale attacks. (Unlike previous games where attacks were scaled down to fit the PVP narrative, this seems like a genuine experience of the Dragon Ball universe. Attacks such as Nappas Giant Storm is much much larger than in previous games. It gives you the overwhelming feel of being in the moment.

Playable Characters

• Goku
• Gohan (Kid, Teen, and Adult)
• Vegeta
• Piccolo
• Future Trunks
• Gotenks
• Vegito

There are other things to do in the world of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. A fishing minigame is present, which allows Goku to catch all types of fish with the use of his Saiyan tail. You can also look forward to moving through the game’s huge world while collecting the “Z Orbs” currency, killing deer to gather meat, cooking food, mining different types of ore, hunting dinosaurs, and trading goods at various retailers. Flying as high as possible into the air opens the game’s world map, which gives you an overview of the many familiar locations you can travel to.. if you collect all the dragon balls you can make a wish and spawn a boss like cell for instance with hiigher buffs etc for extra challenge

A Dragon Ball game created by CC2. My wish for a legit fighter first happened and now one with CC2's animation has come true. Now my standards have been raised, Bamco.

Glad to see I can play as Vegito too even though his entire existence consisted of trolling Super Buu. It's a damned good reason to exist at least.

Where are you guys grabbing your copy? It looks like the best deal for it is at Voidu but the code (DBzVoidu25) doesn't work for me. US btw.

I haven't actually touched a DB game since PS2, so the whole "you're just playing through the same story again" doesn't apply to me. Playing through the whole story is a big draw since I haven't seen that content in a long time. I'm getting pretty stoked for this and depending on how combat shakes out I may be picking this up.

the whole just plkaying through same story doesnt really fly for this game, considering the original creator has added a new ginyu force character and is creating cannon sub stories and fleshing out other parts,

Id love a one piece game like this with a side of assassinds creed blackflag where you can sail your ship to different islands and have sea battles like blackflag as well with your nakama

Everytime a dbz game come out I wish they would've spent the money on making an arpg for the original db, there's a lot they could work with for the original, but I guess it probably wouldn't make them as much money :p

I'm interested in kakarot since there isn't anything out this month, but I'm cautiously optimistic

Good Lord, this OT is terrific! Nice job, Queen! I was on the fence here but SP Dragon Ball with slice-of-life and these gifs is pulling me in. I've had the entire manga for ages so what excuse do I really have to not check this out? :drinking-blob:

aww thanks i always try and make an informative ot instead of a pr looking type one :D the amount of ot i seen for games where u come out knowing nothing but a semi story lol

Not yet sold on the game, I think I'll probably wait for a price drop this time, given that I'll be busy with Iceborne.

As much as I love Dragon Ball, I'd hate to find myself in a new Ultimate Tenkaichi situation.

They scored it higher than the xenoverse games, although it probably don't mean much.

I just need it to not suck :P

Not gonna lie, hearing the music in the launch trailer almost made me buy the game.

Seems like it may be capped to 1080p/60fps on PC though I'm hoping it's just some pre-release nonsense (unlikely, this IS japan we're talking about). Hopefully since it's UE4 it will be able to be tweaked.

I don't see any reason it should be capped... .hack//G.U. Last Recode certainly wasn't, by the same devs.

The in-game vsync option seems to be borked in fullscreen mode (locking the framerate to 30, or even 15fps in some cases), but it's possible to force vsync through the graphics drivers (which does work properly, at least with nvidia cards).
