I've got no artistic merits but, Rise may have the best maps in a Monster Hunter yet, I can't get enough of them (yet, lol). The views are so good spanning from one end of the map to the other. In the Frost Islands the first screen is looking down at the whole thing (well, not the undeground bits of it), the next is from the middle of the map with the shallow water and the last from the other end with the popos (mammoth beasts) both looking toward the high peak I was @ earlier and if you go back to the first screen you can notice the popos in the distance are right there (the flying monsters were too but I didn't catch them in all shots, they are obvious when flapping). And yet up close there are tons of details, objects, paths, nooks & crannies which coupled with the new movement options make traversal through them a joy. The scale is great too, things look tiny from afar but those bones in the first screen are like mountain huge when you climb up them and there are even large gaps between them to jump over, the distance misrepresents the layout detail! I just got an awesome sunset in the first map lighting my armor orange (but didn't catch a screen). Don't sleep on it folks. I'm using a gamepad btw but print screen makes it switch to the kb prompts mind.

Got some decent looking armor finally (well, I made Ludroth's first and I like it but it's an acquired taste). Also note the huge bones from much closer than above.

Btw, with those Village screenshots in the OP, doesn't the first screen of mine above seem to have a similar style to the distant snowed mountains & peaks in it?

Final Fantasy VI Pixel Remaster.

I decided to go with this, I don't usually like scanlines but the default is really flat and the bright areas are SUPER bright lol, so I made it darker, can probably tweak it a bit more later. (might look odd unless you view the pics in fullscreen)

edit: oh someone modded a darker tileset for the worldmap, I won't need to mess with it that much then:

I wish R-Type Final 2 had some sort of photo mode. It's not a bad looking game in some areas and the ships are pretty detailed for a horizontal shooter. Here's their new OFX-X Mariko that was added this month.
