So what kind of game is this?
A mix of Grid combat with cinematic sequences + a bit of VN (not exactly a VN but story told through texts and characters) like sd gundam g generation cross rays but with robots from different shows.

Very nice, I've always been interested in these but never enough to import them since afaik there was only Asian-English releases.
Good time to try them out then.

BTW, even if the look similar, both are completely different games with different stories and robots, each game has it's own cameos and participants and this makes the experiences a dream for mecha fans.

I'm the sucker who bought every Super Robot Taisen on release day. I'm double-dipping, unless Bamco in their infinite wisdom is geoblocking the Steam version to Southeast Asia only.

There aren't many Asia only Steam games out there to start with, I'm afraid. It's usually the other way around, quite a number of games are locked in Asia.

But anyway, looks like cdkeys have them for some games, like this one.

Eh I'd say there is a difference between SEA Steam keys and SEA keys for Blizzard and Uplay ;3

I still don't get why you would region-lock (as in, completely lock out, not price discrimination) a game release (unless you have a really complex licensing deal with an essential external IP).

In this very case it's because there are different license deals for every robot, different companies that in the west operate with other companies that should agree to give some freedom to Bandai Namco, so yeah, this is probably not coming here :(

Almost 100% certain to be a licensing issue. Also, whilst I don't follow any of these games (though would certainly like to try them) if they have any robots from Macross you can bet Harmony Gold would be trying to get a cut of the pie or trying to prevent any kind of release.

What are Valve like when it comes to buying games via VPN that arent officially released on your regions store ? I know they can be pricks about you getting a game cheaper on a different region that is also released in yours but what about a game released in only specific regions ? Hopefully we can see keys get released as I know Valve don't really give a shit about activating keys via VPN (at least I've never heard of anything about them banning folks if even technically not allowed)

Yup, it's all about territorial rights and licenses.

About VPN on Steam, while not allowed, you can use it, activate the game and then wait a few months until it's playable, don't remember how much time it must pass until it's playable, I have never used any VPN, sorry.

The best thing about the Steam release is that now I can take screenshots and videos and share them to my heart's content.

Their capture blocking policy in these games is so notoriously bad.

Please tag them to lashman so that he can indulge in mecha anime goodness.

Region lock is stupid. Until this day I can't buy Metal Gear Rising, I can't play Black Desert Online, and I can't play FFXIV from Steam, Heck, the thing that pissed me off is that Nier Automata was region locked for several months after western release on Steam for unknown reason. People don't care about region lock until it hit them.

Can't wait to play as FeMC :smiling-face-with-heart-shaped-eyes:

If you don't mind me asking, where are you in? Steam keys are one way to circumvate region locks, as you can change region to redeem keys and then back without any issues.

Indonesia. I don't know, but there is a precedent where Steam revoke Steam keys that used to circumvent region locks.

Wow, what does this mean? Are there going to be separate store pages for each SKU? I never knew that SKUs are a thing on Steam too.

nah, it just means they generated those specific keys (and locked them to those specific countries) ... for some reason :P

so, like, there's a chance it'll be released in those countries ... eventually ... maybe

Would that mean the keys generated for that sub can be gifted to another account as long as the recipient is within the region specified in the sub?

yes ... but you'd have to get your hands on those keys first :P there's no guarantee that even if you buy one in a store in one of those countries you'd get THAT particular key

Cool, it's the same price as V.

Speaking of V, I haven't played it for a while, still on the 15th stage or so. I guess I'll go back to it in December.
