Community MetaSteam | February 2026 - Romeo and Rogue: Dead Citadel Requiem

Yeah, think I mentioned this earlier in the thread, but I won't miss any of the Sony games. I mean they release one, maybe two games a year. The only game out of all of them I truly enjoyed is Returnal. But even then I still prefered Housemarques previous games. I just think as the budgets have gotten bigger, as the games have gotten more "Cinematic" (god I hate that phrase) they have just gotten further and further away from me.

Let me put it this way, it's not a move that would get me to rush out and buy a Sony console.

Also got to wonder where this, if true, leaves Nixxes? A support studio for the PC versions of Marathon and Fairgame$.

I can't see it having too much of an impact on the Published games. I can't imagine somebody like Shift Up not being able to release Stellar Blade 2 on PC would be too happy.

I am happy to stick to smaller releases and indie games from now on.

However I do sympaphise with people who do like Sony games.

i actually had a voodoo back in the day 👴
Wait, so you dont actually know what I mean with the clicking sound?

Time to feel old, first 3D card I had!

It's okay.

Even PlayStation owners don't get that many Sony games these days.
Yeah, PlayStation stopping PC releases is not going to fix the problem that they aren’t making many games.

I also don’t see what stopping PC versions actually achieves. Is it going to drive people to their system? I doubt it.

The only PlayStation game I’d consider buying on PS5 if it doesn’t release on PC is PHYSINT, but it’s a Kojima Productions game so it will come to PC eventually.

The only upcoming Sony game i can think of that i really want to play is Saros, i love Returnal and read The King in Yellow after Saros was announced.

That's not enough to have me buying a PS5 though, even if a had the money. And with the direction the industry is going i don't see another Bloodborne happening where i really did buy a console for just one game.

Sony's PC strategy was pretty bad lately. Launching full-priced ports late and in a bad state performance wise was poison for launch sales. I can understand them giving up if they are not willing to commit to a certain level of quality.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. We are not in 2012 or whatever anymore where an console exclusive or Japanese game coming to PC is some huge deal. If HZD launched in that dogshit port state today as the first game, it wouldn't have sold as much as it did back when it did get ported etc.

When people talk about Playstation I'm mostly just surprised at how passionate people still get about it.

Their games are so incredibly milquetoast. The last things they made that were actually worth caring about, to me, were Gravity Rush and The Last Guardian. And they completely stopped making anything like that.

Hey I did this too!

Bought a PS4, Played Bloodborne, thought 'hey, this console is asking me to install stuff and download updates, I might as well have a PC' and then got rid of it. I gave it to a mate who's twin boys were begging him for one. I became the coolest uncle, they call me Uncle Computer Joe to this day.

100%. I will be the first one to admit that I bought Horizon purely for the novelty of seeing what a PS game on PC looked like. I didn't like the game itself that much and I didn't buy the sequel. I will be sad if I won't be able to play Saros though as I loved Returnal.

... I forgot that Returnal was a Sony thing. So yeah, that was actually quite good. But Saros (which I just learned of) seemingly doesn't have any coop announced.

Also, I'm in the same boat of Horizon being the only big Sony first party release on PC that I actually played (and got bored of some hours into).

Fellow Gravity Rush enjoyer

Sony stopping PC releases entirely would only reinforce what I've known for years now: that they fucking suck as a company. Especially if they bought a studio like Nixxes only to have them stop working on ports, what they've always specialized in, or even worse shut them down.

Personally, there's only a handful of titles I'd truly miss. Mostly stuff like GoW, TLoU and Kojima's games (and I don't think Kojima's ports are necessarily at risk here). But if I don't get to play Horizon 3 or Ghost of Yotei... it would suck but I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it. I've got plenty of other stuff to play. And I'm sure as shit not buying a console just for those lmao.

If it helps PlayStation players won't get to play Horizon 3 either

While I like Sony games generally speaking, this game alone interests me more than any other game that Sony could release on Steam!

If they really do decide to stop bringing their games to Steam then.... good luck!

Oh and classic fixed camera Resident Evil is the best kind of Resident Evil :grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes: :grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes:

As someone who has 0 hours (more like 0 minutes) with every Playstation game on pc I'm probably not the best to talk about it, but I did think a bit more about the recent news and something dawned on me
Seeing how every insider is coming out of the woodwork in the last week about Sony stopping pc games, I wonder how "sudden" this decision has been for Sony, and why it's happening now. But then let's be serious, it's not the first time Sony has been reactionary, just look at the post Concord fallout with all the games killed and studios closing (no matter how others see it, it was absolutely caused by Concord's failure). So why is Sony suddenly killing their pc efforts if the PS5 is still selling well?
That's when it dawned on me: Sony was very active on pc in 2024, and still pretty active in 2025, so this change has to be sudden (less than 6 months sudden, if not even more recent). But 2025 also saw the release of Death Stranding 2 which it's pretty obvious it didn't do as good as the first one. And now I'm wondering of Sony is blaming users waiting for it to come on Steam for it's smaller sales compared to the first one. That these rumors intensified a month from Saros releasing also make me wonder if Saros is performing worse pre-order wise compared to Returnal and again if this is being blamed on people waiting for a pc release (which the rumors imply it may never happen)
So is this a reaction about game sales on PS5? Which, by the way, it is something to be worried about looking at analysts for sure but that's mostly because of the evergreen f2p titles and AAA simply not doing as good at 80€. But then is this really the fault of pc gaming? Maybe DS2 sold less because not everyone liked DS1. Maybe Saros may do worse than Returnal because not everyone liked it. Hell, even Wolverine may sell less than Spiderman, but that's because it's fucking Spiderman. It's like being surprised a non-Batman DC hero sells less than Batman
If Sony is killing their pc plans because of them being reactionary, well, more power to them. Is that not something that has happened a lot on pc and all the storefront or publishers abandoning it in the past? But if things don't "improve" then will they also "respond" to this by restarting their pc porting business or will they just cut down more studios? Like it doesn't seem like a well though plan but what do I know

Another thought that came to me is that a lot of the 3rd party studios/publishers like Square Enix, Konami, Capcom, and Atlus (to just name a few) would have been willing to publish their games solely on PlayStation 10-15 years ago but times have changed and these companies are expected to make as much money as possible for every game that they put out. Sony these days doesn't have as many third party exclusives like they used to. I wonder if this is also factoring into their decision making?

I don't understand this. Blizzard adds the Ubisoft Connect versions of Diablo 1, Diablo 1 expansion, and Blizzard Arcade Collection to GeForce Now, but not the actual Battle.net versions. Why?!? I own Blizzard Arcade Collection on Battle.net, but can't play it through the service if I wanted to because of this.
